The Labour Party responds to allegations of N40 million fraud against Chairman

The Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has stated that its National Chairman, Julius Abure, did not embezzle N40 million as previously claimed.
According to Track News, some disgruntled Labour Party officials, led by the party’s sacked National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, accused Abure of diverting the proceeds of party nomination forms into his private transport company account.
However, Umar Farouk, National Secretary of the Labour Party, stated that the NWC reviewed the allegation and found “nothing financially wrong” with it.
“Our chairman’s name was mentioned only once in the allegation, and that was in the heading.” The report’s subsequent narration was all watery and mere allegation.
“We will not be sidetracked.” People believe we are weak, but the actions we are taking are strengthening us.
“We are not afraid to make decisions as long as they are consistent with the party’s and the candidate’s constitution,” Farouk told Punch.
