The only female member of Gombe State House of Assembly loses her re-election bid
The only female member of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Asma’u Ignanus, of the All Progressives Congress, has lost her re-election bid.
Ignanus, who represents Shongom Constituency in the State House of Assembly, lost her seat to Ayala Pilate of the Peoples Democratic Party, who won the assembly poll conducted on Saturday, March 18.
According to a list made available by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday, the PDP won four out of the 24 seats in the Gombe State House of Assembly.
Ignanus, who is former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, was formerly in the PDP but defected to the APC after winning her election in 2019.
