The railway police record a large haul – See details

Between May and June 2022, Railway Police Command agents arrested 13 suspected rail vandals in various parts of the country.

According to police sources, one of the suspects was apprehended by operatives from the Kafanchan Railway Police division after receiving a credible tip. The operatives reportedly swung into action and intercepted a truck bearing the registration number BCH-933 XA belonging to Dangote Cement Company, which was tucked away in a bush at Unguwar Yawa Village, Zango Kataf Local Government of Kaduna State.

Similarly, on May 12, 2022, a Civilian Joint Task Force attached to a railway station in Kaduna state arrested five suspected vandals in the Abakwa axis. The suspects, Abubarkar Ayuba, 22, Musa Ibrahim, 17, Umar Bello, 18, Samaila Rabiu, 18, and Yahaya Abubakar, 18, were apprehended while using a gas cylinder to remove and vandalize rail irons on the Abakwa old rail line.

Three other suspects were apprehended for vandalizing Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) and Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company standard gauge rail Pandrol clips (CCECC). Benedict Matthew (20), Ismalia Ibrahim (18), and Abdullahi Iliyasu (20) were arrested on June 17, 2022.

In the same vein, three suspects, Abdulrazak Abubakar, Khamisu Abba, and Abdulganiyu Abubakar, were apprehended by the Railway Police Command’s Minna Division at kilometer 735, along Korota Village, Maikunkele Beji section.

In Abeokuta, at the Alagada village axis, two men, Idowu Abiodun and David Titus, both 24, were apprehended while vandalizing rail tracks by men from the Abeokuta division.
