There won’t be another defection from APC – Okorocha assures Buhari

– As the All Progressives Congress suffers massive defection, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has assured the party that there won’t be anymore defection by governors
– Okorocha who is the chairman of the party’s Governor’s Forum, says there was deliberation on the defection of two of their colleagues
– Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara and Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto recently defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party
THE chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo, has assured that no governor will defect from the party anymore.
NAN reports that the governor gave the assurance at the end of a closed door meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and APC governors at the presidential villa on the night of Wednesday, July 1.
NAIJ.com gathers that Okorocha, who briefed State House correspondents on the outcome of the meeting, said they deliberated on the defections of two of their colleagues.
He said: “Two of our colleagues left our party. This is politics, it is unfortunate that they have to go. We have 22 states, 53 senators now. Nobody is leaving the party anymore. Those who have left, we are aware that they will leave long ago.
“President Buhari means well and he is willing to fight corruption and you all know if you are fighting corruption, it will fight back. This is what’s happening.”
The APC national chairman, Adams Oshiohmole, who also spoke on the outcome of the meeting, said the governors were on a solidarity visit to President Buhari.
Meanwhile, TRACK NEWS previously reported that Abdulmumin Jibrin, who is a member of the House of Representatives from Kano state, claimed that not less than four governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are working for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said: “At the moment, not less than four to five PDP governors are working in a cross-party arrangement to support the APC in the next presidential election.”
