They Accused Gov. Ikedi Ohakim of Slapping a Priest & He lost his Re-election Bid -Dan Nwanyanwu
A respected Nigerian statesman, Dan Nwanyanwu, recalled the story of how some people plotted to succeed Ikedi Ohakim as the governor of Imo State through false allegations. In his interview, Nwanyanwu revealed the outcome of the story and what happened to those who benefited from the attack.
Addressing the topic, Nwanyanwu said, “We had an arrangement since 1999, when Achike Udenwa handed over to Ikedi Ohakim. However, Ohakim was blackmailed and attacked with half-truths and lies. It was alleged that he slapped a priest, and the story went viral across churches. They did this close to the election, and time was not sufficient to retract such claims.
He added, “Ohakim lost his re-election bid. However, the alleged bishop came out to debunk the allegations against Ohakim, and the church apologized to him. Unfortunately, he had already lost his mandate, and those who benefited from the incident eventually misgoverned the state for eight years.
