Tinubu Faces Three Penalties in 2023 for Ignoring Christian Running Mate, According to Northern Forum
By Adeleye Kunle
The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has reacted to Bola Tinubu’s decision to select former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as his All Progressives Congress running mate.
In its response, NEF stated that the APC presidential candidate would face three issues if he chose a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election.
In a tweet on Sunday, NEF spokesman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed said Christians would abandon him because he chose a Muslim as his running mate.
Baba-Ahmed went on to say that all Muslims will support Tinubu’s presidential ambitions.
He stated that the decision of the former Governor of Lagos State to select Shettima as the APC’s vice-presidential candidate will have no effect on his electoral fortunes.
In the post, Baba-Ahmed asked if our leaders’ faiths influence how they lead.
“Now that BAT has decided on Muslim-Muslim, three things are possible,” wrote the NEF spokesman. All Christians will reject his ticket.
“All Muslims will form a line behind his ticket.”
“It will make no difference to his electoral prospects.” Are our leaders’ faiths that important to how they lead?”
