Tinubu’s choice of Shettima in 2023 is “fuel for Boko Haram,” according to SAN
By Adeleye Kunle
As the 2023 elections approach, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s choice of Kashim Shettima as his running mate as a “terrible choice.”
According to Track News, Adegboruwa also called Tinubu’s decision “insensitive.”
For the first time since the historic 1993 presidential election, when the Social Democratic Party (SDP) fielded Moshood Abiola and Babagana Kingibe on the same ticket, a mainstream Nigerian political party would field a same-faith ticket.
Given the religious sensitivities, many see this as a risky move for the APC, but Tinubu has most likely done his homework.
“It’s a terrible decision in a million ways!!!” Adegboruwa made the announcement in a statement.
“Nigerians, whether Muslims, Christians, Traditionalists, or others, should vote against the APC in 2023.”
“In modern-day Nigeria, a Muslim-Muslim ticket is fuel for Boko Haram, an incentive for ISWAP, and a call for more terrorists.”
“Unless, of course, those carrying the ticket are also complicit.”
“There is no better way to offend our sensibilities than this.”
“I hope it’s not true.”
