To Resolve Crisis, PDP Should Appoint Wike as National Chairman.’

Senator Anietie Okon, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, has advised the party to appoint Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as national Chairman to appease him.
According to TrackNews, Governor Wike’s supporters have demanded that the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, resign.

In their call for the party’s crisis to be resolved, the Wike camp asked the party to allow the Rivers Governor to choose Ayu’s successor.

These demands were made ahead of a meeting of a six-man committee comprised of representatives from the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s and Wike’s camps.

Okon told Vanguard over the weekend that the chairmanship is the only way to end the feud between Wike and Atiku.

The former lawmaker believes Wike has what it takes to strengthen the party ahead of the 2023 general election, and that Wike would accept the chairmanship if offered it.

“To appease Governor Wike, the PDP should give him the position of National Chairman,” he said. That is the only way to get the party out of its bind. I am confident that Wike has the ability and resources to strengthen the party in time for the 2023 elections.

“As a member of the PDP’s South-South caucus, I am confident that, with Wike as national chairman, the PDP will be stronger because of his wealth of experience and leadership qualities.” He is regarded as a leader by many.
