Today, Peter Obi to reveal his presidential campaign list.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, is expected to reveal his presidential campaign council today (Wednesday).
Doyin Okupe, Director General of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, announced the news.
According to Okupe, the event will begin at 12 p.m. on Wednesday at the Chelsea Hotel in Abuja’s Central Business District.
However, there are rumors that the Labour Party camp is unaware of the campaign list.
A party source who spoke with Punch accused Okupe’s camp of developing programs without consulting the party leadership.
Anselm Eragbe, the National Youth Leader of the LP and the Edo North Senatorial Candidate, stated that the party is not in crisis.
“No, I think we’re missing the point,” he said. Though the Labour Party is in charge of the presidential campaign, the candidate is in charge of the composition of his council list. The LP is an essential component of the presidential campaign.
“I can assure you that there is no fracas and that there are no problems anywhere.” So, the presidential campaign, led by the DG of the Presidential Campaign Organization, will unveil the programs and council members tomorrow.”
Eragbe also stated that all party members will be present at the event on Wednesday.
He stated that the party’s National Working Committee will meet on Thursday, while the National Youth Leader will hold a World Press Conference on Saturday to prepare Nigeria’s youth for action.
When asked if Peter Obi would miss the unveiling of the presidential campaign council because he was out of the country, Eragbe said the presidential candidate is expected to return on Tuesday night.
“The event can be held in his absence anyway,” he added. Furthermore, the campaign committee has agreed on the program’s release date. There are no major issues.”
