Tragic Twist: Police Uncover LASU Graduate’s Shallow Grave, Fourth Suspect Arrested

The Lagos State Police Command has located the burial site of Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), after the arrest of Olaoluwa Ajisomo, the prime suspect in the case. Ogunbode had been missing since January 16, 2025, and his disappearance had raised serious concerns.

Ajisomo, who was previously believed to have fled to the Benin Republic, was apprehended on Monday in the Alakuko area of Lagos. Following his arrest, he began cooperating with police investigators in identifying the location of Ogunbode’s grave. Authorities had been searching for those responsible for Ogunbode’s disappearance, and last Friday, they announced the arrest of three individuals connected to the case, while efforts continued to locate five others.

Among those arrested was Pastor Whepetoji Sunday, who allegedly received N70,000 from Ogunbode’s bank account. Another suspect, Sheriff Adebayo, a church member, was said to have received N300,000. Police also detained the mother of the prime suspect, Omolara Ajisomo, for allegedly helping her sons, Teniola and Olaoluwa, escape after they each withdrew N300,000 from the victim’s account.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed that Ajisomo was responsible for draining Ogunbode’s bank account using the victim’s mobile phone. Investigators believe the financial transactions played a crucial role in tracking down those involved.

Hundeyin also addressed speculation about the burial site, clarifying that the victim’s grave was not located within the church premises linked to the suspects. This statement came in response to widespread social media claims that the church had been used to conceal the crime. As a precaution, authorities sealed off the church to prevent any retaliatory actions from the public.

A police source involved in the investigation disclosed that detectives were on their way to exhume Ogunbode’s remains. Ajisomo, after confessing to the crime, led law enforcement officers to the burial site. The discovery of the grave marks a significant breakthrough in the case, as investigators work to uncover the full details of what led to Ogunbode’s tragic death.

The case has drawn widespread attention, with many demanding justice for the slain graduate. Authorities continue their search for the remaining suspects and have assured the public that all individuals involved will be brought to justice.
