Transfer: Chelsea decide on selling Mason Mount as Manchester United submit third, final offer
Chelsea have rejected Manchester United’s third and final offer for their midfielder Mason Mount.
The Blues, however, have put forward a counter-proposal and want to meet in person to resolve the impasse.
Recall that Man United had already had two bids (40m and £50m) rejected by Chelsea for Mount’s signature.
The Red Devils lodged a final, take-it-or-leave-it offer for the England international on Friday and made it clear they would walk away from the deal if it was rejected by Chelsae.
Chelsea have been holding out for £70m, but Man United felt their offer, worth in excess of £55million, is a fair price for Mount, who is out of contract next year and who has made it clear he wants to leave the west London club.
But according to The Athletic, Chelsea have rejected Man United’s latest offer but put forward a counter-proposal that is less than the £70million they have been demanding.
The report added that Chelsea will accept a fixed fee of £58m plus £7m in add-ons – still £10m more than Man United’s third offer and have offered to meet their Premier League rival counterparts in person to find a solution
