Transfer: He won’t play – Rio Ferdinand names Real Madrid midfielder Man United should sign
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged the club to make an audacious move for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni.
Real Madrid signed the French star last summer for an initial £68 million from Monaco and allowed Casemiro leave Santiago Bernabeu for Old Trafford later in the summer.
The Red Devils want to bolster their midfield this summer and have tabled two offers for Chelsea star Mason Mount while weighing up a huge move for West Ham United captain Declan Rice.
Los Blancos now parade their best legs in midfield with Jude Bellingham joining from Borussia Dortmund, Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde and Tchouameni, while the highly experienced Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are also still firmly in the picture.
Speaking on Vibe with Five, Ferdinand suggests Tchouameni could now be the ‘odd man out’ in that star-studded midfield, saying it could be an opportunity for the Red Devils to sign the France international.
“In midfield, you know who I would go and get? I would try to get Tchouameni,” he said.
“He is going to be the one who doesn’t play, he is the odd man out at the minute. Massive improvement.”
