A former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor-Kalu, has been summoned by a Federal High Court in Abuja over the whereabouts of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The court in an ordered has asked Uzor-Kalu to appear before it on Wednesday, November 14 to testify on the whereabouts of the missing IPOB leader.
Punch reports that the order by the court followed a request for the subpoena filed by Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
The subpoena bore the Federal High Court’s stamp and dated October 11, 2018, was signed by the “judge” and made available to journalists on Friday, October 12.
The subpoena titled, ‘Orji Uzor Kalu House, adjacent Bannex Flyover, beside the ever-busy Wuse-Jahi-Gwarimpa, Abuja’ was filed before Justice Binta Nyako.
It read in parts: “You are commanded in the name of the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to attend before this Court on the 14th day of November 2018, at 9 o’clock in the forenoon, and so from day to day till the above use is tried, to give evidence on behalf of the Defendant, with regards to your knowledge on the whereabouts of the Defendant as contained in your interview granted to Press/Media on the 18th of September, 2018, after your visit to the former Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida in Minna, which interview was widely reported both on print and online media.”
Also, Ejiofor in a statement said that Uzor-Kalu was being summoned because of his recent “outburst” about Kanu’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile, TRACKNEWS.NG previously reported that Uzor-Kalu, the former governor of Abia state while speaking in an interview said the IPOB leader went to Malaysia from where he travelled to the United Kingdom.
Uzor-Kalu had said: “Kanu was not taken away by the military. Kanu went to Malaysia from where he travelled to the United Kingdom.
“Nnamdi Kanu is in London right now as we speak. He was not arrested by anybody. He left the country on his own,” the former governor said.
