TWO ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATING POLICEMAN, SOLDIER IN LAGOS
Men of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspects, identified as Anya Okorie and Usman Ali, for allegedly impersonating a policeman and a soldier, respectively.
TrackNews Online learned that Ali was arrested when he and a fleeing accomplice allegedly attacked one Onyema with a jackknife in Surulere, while Okorie was arrested incomplete police uniform in Ketu.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Thursday, said the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, criticized the act of impersonation and directed the Divisional Police Officers, intelligence detectives and heads of departments in the command to go after impersonators and make them face the full wrath of the law.
The PPRO stated, “The police chief further directs that every police officer in the state must always possess a police warrant card or identity card as a major means of identification, even on the uniform, being a practice in the police.
“Items recovered from Okorie are two mopol berets, two lanyards, two mobile police khaki trousers, three mobile T-shirts, a sergeant rank and mobile squadron badges, while army camouflage vest and jackknife were recovered from Ali.
“Ali has been charged to Magistrate Court 3, Surulere, on February 17, 2021, while Okorie will be charged to court today, February 19, 2021.”
