Two arrested in Ogun for allegedly killing mother, son
The Ogun State Police Command, on Monday, confirmed the arrest of two suspects for allegedly kidnapping and killing a housewife and her son in the state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who made the confirmation in a statement on Monday said the victims were killed for ritual purposes.
He identified the suspects as 29-year-old herbalist, Baoku Gbuyi and a 27-year-old bricklayer, Olamide Odulaja.
According to the PPRO, the arrest followed a report received at Ijebu Igbo division, from the victim’s husband, who reported that his wife and son went out and and never returned, and efforts to locate her and the little boy was futile.
He stated that during interrogation, the suspect, Olamide confessed to the crime, saying he connived with one herbalist to kidnap the woman and her son.
Olamide noted that they murdered the victims for money ritual at the herbalist’s house.
“He stated further that, it was the herbalist who burnt the woman’s head which he used for him and upon his confession, detectives went after the said herbalist who resides in Arararomi, Jaoara, Ijebu Igbo.
“On getting to his residence, it was discovered that the herbalist had fled having heard about the arrest of Olamide.”
The police spokesman noted that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
