A Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin has sentenced Musa Buba and Akinwale Olamilekan to 300 hours of community service each for separate financial and cyber-related offenses.

Musa Buba was convicted for operating a bureau de change business without a valid license, while Akinwale Olamilekan, from Owena Ijesha, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, was found guilty of cybercrime.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Abimbola Awogboro ruled that both convicts must serve their sentences at a rate of five hours per day, with no option of a fine.

The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned the convicts on separate charges before the court.

The charge against Musa Buba stated that he engaged in unauthorized financial transactions at Chikanda Market, Yashikira District, Baruten Local Government Area, Kwara State, in violation of the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act, 2020.

Meanwhile, Akinwale Olamilekan was convicted of fraudulent impersonation, after posing as Mary Williams on iMessage to defraud Mark Durham of $950. His offense contravened the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act.
