Two PDP chieftains dumps party and moved to APC in Benue
Two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Bemgba Iortyom, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
The two chieftains are – Vincent Yandev Amaabai, a National Ex-officio; and Mbakorlumun James Chia, State Vice-Chairman for Benue North-West (Zone “B”) Senatorial District.
Iortyom noted that both officials will be received into the APC at a ceremony slated for Thursday, January 4.
“PDP understands that migration of politicians of a particular kind from the opposition to the ruling party has become a common feature of our politics, and sees nothing unusual about this current episode of it,” he said.
Meanwhile, the APC in Benue State has announced a mega decamping ceremony of members of the PDP into its fold.
The APC in a statement signed by Becky Orpin, who is chairing the decamping committee, listed nine prominent figures as those who will lead their followers to join the ruling party from the PDP in honour of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume in an event billed to hold at Yandev in Gboko LGA of the state.
