In a tragic incident in Gwargwada, Kuje Area Council of the FCT, two individuals were shot dead by kidnappers due to a delay in ransom payment.

The victims, Mohammed Danladi and Nasiru Yusuf, both from Gwargwada village, were abducted along with a herder and a woman at Gwombe junction on Wednesday.

The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N500,000 for each victim, but the families could only gather N500,000 in total, as revealed by Shuaibu Abdullahi, a relative of the deceased.

Abdullahi recounted, “The leader of the kidnappers contacted us on Friday, and we informed them that we could only raise N500,000. Unbeknownst to us, they had already executed two of the captives due to the delay in payment.”

The kidnappers, he reported, subsequently released the herder and a woman after receiving a ransom of N3 million at their hideout in the Kotonkarfe forest in Kogi State.

Ugbada Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, the traditional ruler of Gwargwada, confirmed the event, stating that the two deceased, who were residents of Gwargwada, were taken while traveling back from Rubochi.
