By Adeleye Kunle
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set a date and time for Senator Kashim Shettima to be officially introduced as the party’s vice presidential candidate for the 2023 election, TrackNews reports
In a brief statement issued Tuesday morning, the APC stated that Shettima will be unveiled on Wednesday, July 20th at 11 a.m. at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
The statement is as follows:
“The APC will formally introduce Sen. Kashim Shettima as its Vice Presidential Candidate to the Nigerian public on:
Date: Wednesday, July 20, 2022
Abuja, Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre
Prompt time: 11 a.m.
Earlier, Naijaloaded reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, had set a date to present his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, to the party’s leadership.
According to this news outlet, Tinubu will officially present Shettima to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) and its National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on Wednesday, July 20th, barring any last-minute changes.
Tinubu, during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, July 4, in Daura Katsina State, unveiled former Borno State Governor, Shettima, as his running mate.
The announcement implies that the APC will run a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election, a move that has sparked widespread outrage among Nigerians.
The official unveiling was supposed to take place last week, but the party postponed it.
