UPDATE: Alleged N1.5trn Fraud, Group Wants I.C.P.C. To Take Over Probe Against Nimasa Boss
President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to order the Independent corrupt practices and other related crimes commission, ICPC to take over the N1.5 trillion fraud allegation against the director general of the Nigeria Maritime and safety agency, Bashir Jamo.
Rising from a press briefing in Lagos, the centre for public accountability in collaboration with the coalition of civil society organizations, says it no longer has faith in the Economic and financial crimes commission to handle the probe.
Convener of the Centre, Olufemi Lawson says the group is sending out a petition to the president and the senate, alleging that the EFCC chairman Abdularasheed Bawa is complicit, as three of his siblings enjoy fully-paid scholarship by NIMASA.
Lawson also takes a swipe at Bawa who he says has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons.
