UPDATE: Picture of slain EFCC operative who was set to marry this year released

According to our reporter the photo of Halisu Sahabi, an Assistant Superintendent with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who was killed during a raid in Awka, Anambra State, has been released. Sahabi tragically lost his life on Friday while carrying out his duties, allegedly at the hands of a suspected internet fraudster.
Family sources disclosed that Sahabi had been planning to get married after the next fasting season, a heartbreaking reminder of the promising future that was cut short.
The suspect, identified as Chukwuka Josiah Ikechukwu Nnamdi, a medical doctor from Ifite, Awka, was apprehended by the Anambra State Police Command after an extensive manhunt. Reports indicate that Nnamdi tried to evade arrest by hiding in the ceiling of a neighbor’s house but was eventually captured and taken into custody.
In the aftermath of the incident, condolences have poured in for Sahabi’s grieving family. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, visited Awka to oversee arrangements for transporting Sahabi’s body to Sokoto State for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
A family member shared, “He was buried in Sokoto this afternoon following Muslim traditions. Salisu had planned to marry after the next fasting season, but his life was tragically taken while on duty. His team was dispatched to confront alleged internet fraudsters in Awka without bulletproof vests.”
The tragedy underscores the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty.
