Vigilante Arrest 2 Suspects, Buyer for Vandalism of Electrical Installations
At least two suspected vandals of KEDECO armoured cables and a buyer have been arrested in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State by members of Vigilante Group.
Confirming the arrest to Newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday, the Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Power and Political Affairs, Alhaji Kabir Sani-Giant said the suspects were arrested after vandalism of some transformers at some villages.
He listed the villages to include; Kwandage, Hore, Suru and Tungar Gero villages all in Suru Local Government Area.
Sani-Giant said the suspects were; Abubakar Umar (M), 35 years old from Shema village in Suru LGA and Yahuza Muhammad (M), 25 years old from Dada village in Koko-Besse LGA.
The special adviser added that the buyer is identified as Lawali Buda (Lawali Ga gare), 42 years old from Katami village, Gidan Malan Daudu, Silame in Sokoto State.
“The suspects confessed to committing the crime after interrogation by the vigilante in the area, while the buyer from Sokoto state was also apprehended,” he said.
Sani-Giant, who expressed dismay over the high rates of crime, particularly vandalism of electrical installations in the state, also admonished parents and religious leaders to continue to complement the government’s efforts on a campaign against crimes.
He said the suspects had been handed over to the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NCDC) for further investigation and further action.
