Villarreal gives Man United, Man City nod to sign Torres
Villarreal president, Fernando Roig, has given Manchester United or Manchester City the go-ahead to sign their player, Pau Torres, this summer transfer window.
Roig, however, insisted that Torres will not leave Villarreal for a cut-price fee.
Torres has attracted interest from several clubs, including Man United, City, Real Madrid and Barcelona, in the past.
The centre-back is on Man United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s shortlist ahead of the transfer window, and the Red Devils have made the signing of a central defender one of their priorities this summer.
Asked directly about the prospect of Torres joining Manchester City or Manchester United this summer, Roig told Spanish radio show El Transistor: “Yes, If they arrive with the money and the player wants to move.
“But there must be an agreement between all three parties.”
Torres has a €65 million release clause in his contract with Villarreal.
