We Accepted Defeat in Osun, says APC Deputy National Organising Secretary Duru

By Adeleye Kunle
The All Progressives Congress has revealed why it lost the governorship election in Osun State on July 16, 2022.
Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor and candidate of the ruling party, lost to Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.
While reviewing the election results, APC Deputy National Organising Secretary Hon Nze Chidi Duru stated that the party has accepted the outcome.
According to Duru, the ruling party may have lost the election because the people of Osun State desired a change in government.
The APC Chieftain claimed that the party attempted to mobilize all of its governors to the state, but that this did not produce the desired results.
He did, however, state that the APC is prepared for the 2023 general elections.
“We lost the election in Osun State, as declared by INEC, and our party has accepted the result,” the APC chieftain said. It could be for a variety of reasons.
“It is possible that the people of Osun desired a change in government.” It’s possible that they preferred the PDP to be in a position of authority in Osun, but our party went above and beyond to win the election. We energized and mobilized the base, went out to campaign, and all of our governors were there a few days before the election to hold the closing ceremony and continue to message and explain to the people of Osun what the party stands for and what they hope to achieve.
“We understand and know for a fact that the governor cleared most of Osun State’s outstanding liabilities, but the electorate ultimately chose otherwise.” We accept our defeat and are ready for the next election.”
