We Are Changing Civil Service to Make It More Appealing to Young People – BPSR
Dr Dasuki Arabi, the Director General (DG) of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), has stated that his organization is transforming the civil service sector to make it more appealing to the country’s youth.
Several reforms have been implemented by his agency, he claims, not only to discourage corrupt practices in the civil service but also to make the sector more appealing to young people.
Arabi, according to Track News, revealed the agency’s plan at the African Youths Initiative On Crime Prevention’s two-day national youth summit on drug and substance abuse prevention in Abuja.
He mentioned it as one of the steps the agency is taking to discourage Nigerian youths from seeking greener pastures abroad.
“We have been transforming the Civil Service to make it appealing to the youth,” Arabi said. We’re doing this to encourage them to join the civil service rather than Japa. Our reforms have made it more difficult for public officials to engage in corrupt practices. In addition, the IPPIS reforms have resulted in the elimination of ghost workers.
“Beyond the government, we have been carrying out activities to develop the skills of youths so that they can get involved in jobs other than government jobs.” “We believe this will help us overcome the country’s unemployment problem.”
He also mentioned that the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System (IPPIS) reforms had resulted in the elimination of ghost workers.
