The Department of State Services (DSS) has faulted the claims that it has in its custody twelve aides of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.

TrackNews Online reported earlier that DSS failed to produce Igboho’s associates on Thursday as against a court order for their production made last week.

Speaking on the number of people in its custody as against the 12 reported, DSS’ lawyer, I. Awo on Thursday, July 29 told a Federal High Court in Abuja that the security agency has only three people detained in its custody.

The DSS’ lawyer spoke at the resumed hearing in a fundamental rights enforcement suit by 12 associates of Igboho, who claimed to have been arrested since the DSS raided Igboho’s Ibadan residence on July 1. Awo revealed the names of the detained aides as; Amoda Babatunde (aka Lady K), Diokola Adeyemo Admola and Bamidele Sunday.

The lawyer explained further that the DSS had one Abdullateef Ofeyagbe (the first applicant) in its custody until July 27when he was released.

Lawyer to the applicants, Pelumi Olajengbesi, faulted Awo’s claim and insisted that all his clients were being held by the DSS.

Although Awo tried to explain why his client could not comply with the court’s order, Justice Obiora Egwuatu restated the order for the applicants’ production on the next adjourned date. Justice Egwuatu also ordered the DSS to allow the applicants’ lawyers access to them between today and Monday.
