We will upgrade facilities in all the health centres–Professor Brisibe
Bayelsa State Government has expressed optimism that the collaboration with the local government councils in revamping health facilities would yield the desired results for optimal service delivery.
Professor Seiyefa Brisibe, the State Commissioner for Health, made the assertion during his ongoing Health Facility Assessment Tour to Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and some part of Yenagoa Local Government Area.
According to professor Brisibe, the collaboration would drive utilization and stem issues of maintenance amongst others.
“It is a partnership that would ensure that there is collaboration between the political leadership of the local government, the ward health development committees and those managing the health facilities” Professor Brisibe said.

He further explained that it would revalidate the sighting of health facilities appropriately.
“I also assure you that the Bayelsa State Government is working on implementing some performance-based incentives to motivate health workers especially in the rural areas”, the health Commissioner added.
Hon. Target Segibo, the Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Council, who spoke to newsmen at Oporoma, commended the State Government for the initiative of partnering with the local government councils.
Health facilities visited includes, Referral Hospital, Oporoma, Community Health Centre, Oporoma, Primary Healthcare centre, Angiama, General Hospital Amassoma, Primary Health Centre, Amassoma and Alomu Primary Healthcare Centre, Amassoma all in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the State.
Others are, General Hospital, Agudama-Ekpetiama and Primary Healthcare Centre, Tombia in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the State.
At the Alomu Primary Healthcare Centre, the Health Commissioner ordered that Beauty Jairus be given employment as she has been working for two years faithfully as a temporary staff member.
The Commissioner and his team were received by Rt. Hon. Monday Bubou Obolo, Member Representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 2 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Target Segibo, Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Council, Mrs. Josephine Ekeuwei, Vice Chairman, Southern Ijaw Local Government Council, Hon. Mao Onini, LGA Supervisors, Councilors, and other top government functionaries.
He commended the Former Speaker and current Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Obolo Bubou, Hon. Target Segibo, Silga Chairman, his Vice and Supervisor for Health, Hon. Josephine Ekeuwei, the Ward Councilors, and others for joining the team to inspect the facilities and encourage health workers across the LGA take seriously the work at hand.
