We’ll light up our state to extend business hours- Ikpeazu
TRACKING >>Governor Okezie Ikpeazu says the street lighting initiative embarked upon by his government is designed to extend the business hours of major cities in the state beyond midnight through proper street lighting and improved security.
Governor Ikpeazu who was addressing newsmen after monitoring the first phase of the light-must-glow initiative of his administration in Umuahia the state capital, expressed satisfaction with the quality of street lights already installed in major streets and roads of Umuahia.
According to him, the street lights initiative will be extended to Ohafia and other upcoming cities in the state to extend business hours beyond midnight in the areas. The Governor disclosed that government is making plans to ultimately find an alternative place for street traders at Isi Gate to a more conducive and secured environment adding that government can no longer allow haphazard manner of trading at Isi Gate and other parts of Umuahia.
He assured that his administration is ready to beautify Umuahia and Aba as well as give the cities better roundabouts to ensure smoother flow of traffic.
