We’ll shortly reveal our position, says Shekarau’s aide.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, a media advisor to Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano State, claimed on Tuesday that his principal had not yet decided whether to leave the NNPP.
Sule insisted that his principal would reveal his viewpoint to the public within the coming week.
According to rumors going around, Shekarau would leave the NNPP and join the People’s Democratic Party, barring any last-minute changes to his plans to wed former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
According to another report, Senator Ahmad Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, is expected to meet with Shekarau soon. However, the Shura Consultative Assembly, the senator’s highest decision-making body, is rumored to have rejected the reports.
Shekarau’s assistant Dr. Sule quickly reacted by urging the population to ignore the news that was making ripples.
Dr. Sule added, “Please dismiss any news on Senator Ibrahim Shekarau’s political activity; His Excellency will make a clear and comprehensive position of His Excellency public within the week.”
Remember that Shekarau split from Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje months ago over issues with the APC party structure and other issues in order to work with former Governor Kwankwaso in the state.
