What INEC told Saraki, Tambuwal, others during a protest over conduct of Osun governorship elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday, October 5, promised Nigerians and protesting members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the organisation would conduct credible elections in 2019.
The electoral umpire stated this through its social media handles that the 2019 general elections would be credible.
“(The) national commissioners, May Agbamuche-Mbu, and Mohammed Haruna, today assured the PDP leaders of INEC’s determination to conduct credible general elections in 2019,” the electoral body said.
It confirmed that leaders of the PDP and their supporters were at the INEC headquarters on a peaceful protest over the election in Osun.
TRACK NEWS earlier reported that a week after the conclusion of Osun state governorship election, some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) protested against the declaration of Governor Aregbesola’s chief of staff, Gboyega Oyetola, as the winner of the election.
Senate President Bukola Saraki, House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, are among the top PDP leaders protesting in front of INEC headquarters.
