Wike Said. ‘I Went Somewhere & People Said They Had Never Seen A Minister Come Out To Talk To Them’

Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, discussed how the public has responded to his job thus far. He related an occasion in which several individuals expressed astonishment, claiming that they had never witnessed a minister interact with them directly.
He emphasised how important these kinds of contacts are to building public confidence in the government’s ability to finish infrastructure projects like building roads.
He said in an interview with TVC, ”I went somewhere and people came out, the security men were trying to stop them, I said why are you pushing them.
The people said they had never seen a minister come out to talk to them. Look at their feelings. But what is it? What is so important about going to talk to people to have confidence that we are going to complete these roads? And I told them to support us and we will achieve it. Nothing gives people more happiness than you relating with them.”
