Wike’s Loyalist Responds to Rivers Governor’s Support for Tinubu
By Adeleye Kunle
Former House of Representatives member, Ogbonna Nwuke, has denied that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, intends to support the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
This comes after the Rivers State APC publicity secretary, Chris Finebone, stated that Wike intends to work with Tinubu because he believes the APC presidential candidate, will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Governor Wike, according to Finebone, is looking for a safe landing if Tinubu is elected President in 2023.
Nwuke, on the other hand, condemned the APC on Monday for associating Governor Wike with the former Governor of Lagos State’s presidential ambitions.
The former lawmaker also stated that it is incorrect for the APC in Rivers State to interpret Governor Wike’s invitation to prominent members of the party to commission projects in the state as a plan to work with Tinubu.
Nwuke told Tracknews , “It is strange, and whoever said that on the APC platform does not understand the difference between politicking and administration.”
“What is coming out of the APC is revolting; it lacks maturity.” It doesn’t demonstrate that whoever made that statement understands how politics works.
“Right now, people belong to various political parties, and just because you belong to a different political party does not mean you don’t have friends.” So, what’s the problem with someone trying to connect with his friends? Does this imply that the individual is making overtures? That is not the case.”
