Win against Sunshine Stars good for Rivers United title defence – Eguma
Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma believes that the Nigeria Premier League Super Six playoffs opening day win against Sunshine Stars will spur his team to successfully defend their title
Ebube Duru’s second half penalty gave the defending champions maximum points in the game played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
“It was crucial we began with a victory just to keep the winning mentality going,” he stated in a chat with the media after the game.
“We know their game so we had to make some tactical adjustment which gave us victory.
“Overall, it was a good game from both sides.”
Rivers United will take on Remo Stars on matchday two of the playoff on Monday
