Woman arrested for burning House help with hot Iron

AN Anambra nurse, Amarachukwu Happiness Nzekwe, who used a hot pressing iron on the back of her househelp has admitted that she did it, saying the aim was to discipline the child.
Nzekwe, 38, who hailed from Ezinifite, Aguata local government area of the state, said the reason for using the hot iron on the 13 – year old househelp was because he stole her money.
She made the confession after officials of the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, led by the Commissioner, Hon. Ify Obinabo, arrested her.
She said she placed the pressing iron on a stove and used it to scald the boy’s back after he refused to confess to stealing the money.
She told the commissioner that: “All the suffering I have been going through was because of this boy. I had surgery and came back home to discover that my money was missing. I didn’t plug the iron to electric; I just placed it on a stove to discipline him.”
Ministry officials identified the boy as her nephew and that she also locks him up at home without food most times.
The Commissioner vowed that Nzekwe must be prosecuted, warning that such ungodly attitude would not be allowed in Anambra State under Prof Chukwuma Soludo as governor.
The suspect was later handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
