Women Should Not Vote For Money In 2023: Wife Of NNPP’s Governorship Candidate Reveals
By Adeleye Kunle
Ruth Popoola, the wife of the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s governorship candidate, urged women in the country on Sunday to warn their children and husbands to avoid any political party that engages in vote buying in the 2023 general elections, TrackNews reports.
She urged every woman in the country to go out and encourage their families to get their PVCs in order to elect credible candidates for elective offices in the upcoming general elections.
During a consultation with an Islamic group in Ibadan, the governorship candidate’s wife said, “I am begging women who have carried a pregnancy for nine months and have given birth to a child to join us to secure Nigeria.”
“Now, I beg those women who believe in vote buying not to sell their children’s futures again.” They must also talk to their husbands and children in order to avoid vote buying. Nigeria is currently going through a critical period. Last week, there was a jail break in Abuja, and many criminals escaped.
“In Lugbe, Abuja, robbers broke into a large compound and robbed everyone inside.” That is the word being spread across the country. You cannot sleep with two eyes closed in any part of the country. You cannot sleep unless you wear a night guard. That is the narrative we wish to change. That is not the situation we want to hear. As a result, I’m appealing to women across the country who are my sisters and friends.” She begged.
Alhaji Bayo Azeez, the state Zonal Chairman of NASFAT, urged the wives of the party’s candidates to join the Muslim community in the state.
