World Cup: Barcelona striker Depay vying for Holland’s top spot
Memphis Depay of Barcelona wants to start for Holland against Qatar in the World Cup.
The Dutchman came on in the 62nd minute to replace Vincent Janssen in the first match against Senegal, which the Netherlands won 2-0.
He played more minutes in the second match, a 1-1 draw against Ecuador last Friday, when he came on after the break in the 46th minute.
“Hopefully, I’ll start against Qatar,” Depay said.
“Play all 90 minutes? We would have to see how I do during the game, but yes, I think I’m capable of playing all 90 minutes.”
