You Do Not Have The Authority To Prevent My Senatorial Aspirations – Ortom Replies Ayu
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, does not have the authority to halt his senatorial bid.
Remember that Ayu boasted last week to his supporters in Gboko, his country home, that he has the power to prevent Ortom and others in the state who are calling for his resignation from realizing their ambition if he so desired.
The PDP national chairman, on the other hand, stated that as a father to all party members and in order to avoid a schism in the party, he has decided to remain silent.
“I have been silent over all the things you are hearing against me because I don’t want any crack in the party I belong to in my state, I have the powers to say you and you will not go anywhere because I will insist on signing before you go anywhere,” he had said.
“However, whether I like it or not, I signed for all candidates produced by the PDP to pursue their dreams.”
“So I was doing that in the belief that I couldn’t shoot myself in the leg.” I want Benue to come first by winning all elections, so that Nigerians can say that the national chairman delivered his state to the PDP with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar receiving 90% of the vote and Titus Uba as governor in 2023.”
Governor Ortom told The Punch on Tuesday through his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, that Ayu does not have the power to stop his senatorial aspiration, which was given to him by party delegates.
“If he had the ability, why didn’t he use it?” “Does he (Ayu) have the authority to invoke the process that has already been conducted and passed by delegates?” he inquired.
