You Have a Few Days to go, Gov. Fubara Tells LGA Chairmen

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has cautioned Local Government Chairmen across the state to be cautious in their utterances and actions, realizing that they have few days in office and should be ready to pay for hurting anyone while displaying their political loyalty.

Governor Fubara stated this at the Craneburg Construction Yard in Egbeda venue of the flag off of the Elele-Umudioga-Egbeda-Ubimini-Ikiri-Omoku road on Thursday.

The governor condemned the attack on his supporters at Eleme by some people shortly after the Commissioning of Aleto-Ebubu-Eteo, (Old Bori Road ) on Monday, stating that such actions intended to justify loyalty, is totally unacceptable.

He maintained that he has remained unprovoked despite the abuses on his personality, and attacks on his followers because he has opted to tow the path of peace based on the promise he made to the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Governor Fubara admonished the people to conduct themselves peacefully in their support and advised the Local Government Chairmen to exercise restraint.

“Please conduct yourselves peacefully. Politics will come and go, we will still live our lives. Let nobody deceive you, if you deliberately hurt anybody in the cause of expressing your support nobody will forgive you. You will surely pay.”

He declared that his administration came prepared for governance and is ready in his stewardship to account for every money spent on projects delivery, stating that he invited Senator John Mbata as the Special Guest of Honour for the flag off because the Mbata dynasty has a repository of honour and integrity in Ikwerre and Rivers State in general.

The governor said the 33.5kilometers road was awarded to a reputable firm and expected to be completed in 24 months with the target of opening up the three local government areas that the road traverses to greater commercial activities and improving the well-being of the people.

“So, today I want to charge the people of the three local government areas (Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni) to support the contractor, let this project be delivered within the 24 months duration. They promised us that before our 3rd year in office we will come here to commission the road.”

Sir Fubara pointed out that the project is in line with President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda as his administration through the road is giving hope to the people of Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government areas.

In his remarks, the special guest of honour, Senator John Azuta Mbata who flagged-off the road said the 33.5km road is a landmark project which only could be embarked upon by the federal government because of the financial volume, but the Rivers State government under Governor Siminalayi Fubara has shown a bold step to impact the lives of the people by building the road.

He called on the people to continue to support the administration of Governor Fubara as it is people-oriented and prepared to work for their interest.

Describing the features of the road, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr Atamea Briggs said that the 33.5km road will be lit up with solar powered Street lights, dual carriage of 7.5 meters width and expected to be completed in 24 months.

Also, the General Manager of Craneburg Construction Company Limited, Elie Adem commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his administration for the confidence reposed in the firm to handle the road and promised that the firm will deliver on schedule.

Earlier, a political leader in the area and a one time Commissioner in the State, Chief Charles Beke expressed gratitude of the people to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and assured of their unalloyed support as demonstrated by the massive outings in thanksgiving across the beneficiary LGAs, and tendered unreserved apology on behalf of unguarded elements from the Ikwerre extraction who have shown gross disrespect to the office of the Governor.
