Youth Group Berates Ex-APC spokesman, says Lyon was a deserving APC Guber candidate

Yenagoa—A group, Lyon Youth Network has arraigned the former spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena for saying he is glad that Chief David Lyon was not inaugurated as Governor of Bayelsa State in 2020.

The group condemned Nabena’s insinuation that Lyon clinched the party’s gubernatorial ticket based on favoritism and not on merit.

In a press statement signed by the group’s patron, comrade Ani John popularly known as Abala 1 was made available to TrackNews Online on Monday.

The group stated that Lyon is a committed and supportive party man, who is integral to the party, adding that his popularity with the rank and file members of the APC afforded him the party’s ticket in the last election.

According to the group’s statement, Yekini Nabena’s gloating of David Lyon’s sacking as governor-elect by the supreme court verdict only shows he is a fake party man and a political truant who roams around to curry favour.

The group also stated that Mr. Yekini, is an irrelevant politician who has consistently failed to deliver his wards in previous elections.

The statement reads in part:

“Chief David Lyon clinches the Governorship ticket on the grounds of merit, supportive role and contributions to persons and the party at the state with the support of the Leader of the party, Chief Timipre Sylva at a keen contest between him and others.

“It is on record that Chief David Lyon has at all times displayed loyalty, respect and appreciation to the leader of the party and minister of petroleum resources (State) Chief Timipre Sylva.”

“Again, Chief Lyon showed his commitment and loyalty to the party at the just concluded ward and LGA congresses by admonishing his supporters to support the process.”

“I wonder why Yekini Nabena with his claims of knowledge of the process of election and a party man will say “ticket was given to someone” this I will say is the height of political IGNORANCE.”

“It is evidently clear that Mr. Yekini Nabena is a political truant whose job has always been to discredit a leader to curry a favour (eye service politician) and one of those continuously pursuing to spoil the relationship Chief Lyon has built with the leader of the APC in Bayelsa State.”
