Zamfara election: APC members accuse party of neglect after sustaining injuries

Adeleye Kunle
Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, who sustained various degrees of injury during the April 15 rerun election have accused the party of abandoning them.
It was gathered that the APC supporters sustained injuries during a clash with members of a rival political party.
It was also leant that majority of the victims were seriously wounded and could not afford to have medical attention due to their poor financial status.
One of the victims, Mohammed Sani Takori, whose house was also destroyed, said: “it is very unfortunate that a party like APC see no moral responsibility to its members as important.”
Takori, a former member of the House of Representatives, wondered how APC stakeholders could not come to the aid of the victims morally and financially.
“It is shocking that after we wholeheartedly supported the APC candidate, Ahmad Usman Lancaster, during which we were seriously injured, nobody cared to look after us”, he added.
According to him, the majority of the victims could not seek medical attention due to their poor financial status.
He lamented the nonchalant attitude of the APC leadership in the State, pointing out that key stakeholders, such as former governors Abdul’Aziz Yari and Bello Matawallle could not visit the victims.
Takori, however, appealed to the national leadership of the APC to intervene and compel the state APC chapter and the key stakeholders to do the needful by paying a visit to the victims
