Zamfara PDP candidates demand release of ex-minister, Bilbis, allege fresh plot by Matawalle

The Peoples Democratic Party Candidates in Zamfara State have called on Governor Bello Matawalle and the All Progressives Congress to free Ikira Bilbis and other PDP supporters arrested on allegations of vandalism.

The group of aspirants are also demanding the release of two journalists detained by the Matawalle government.

A statement titled Critical National Alert issued by Sulaiman Gumi on behalf of the group on Saturday accused the governor and the APC of profiling thirteen PDP stakeholders for arrest.

“It is clear that this arrest is a continuation of the implementation of Dr. Matawalle and APC’s subjugation plan, which at the moment, targets thirteen stakeholders of the PDP.

“Those targeted include Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare, Zamfara State PDP Governorship candidate; Alhaji Ikari Aliyu Bilbis, PDP senatorial candidate for Zamfara central; Mukhtar Lugga, Zamfara State Acting PDP Chairman; Alhaji Salihu Mai Buhu Gumi, leader of PDP Elders’ Forum; Hon (Engr). Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi, member representing Gummi/Bukkuyum federal constituency; Hon. Bello Hassan Shinkafi, member representing Shinkafi/Zurmi federal constituency and Hon. Kabiru Ahmadu, member representing Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency

“Others are Hon. Shehu Regan; Mr. Garba Bisu; Mr. Ilili Bakura; Mr. Labaran Dan Hausa; Mr. Dan Sufyanu; Mr. Sha’aibu A Zurmi and Mr. Kwantama.
