Zangon Kataf attacks: Army promises decisive action against criminal elements

Brig-Gen Timothy Opurum, the Commander of Sector 7, Operation Safe Haven Kafanchan, has expressed the determination of the Army to protect lives and property within their area of operation.
He assured that the Army will not be distracted in its quest to carry out their professional responsibilities in their area of assignment.
Speaking on Wednesday shortly after leading troops on a show of force across communities in Atyap Chiefdom, in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Opurum lamented that some elements had continued to disregard the efforts of the Army to ensure the sustenance of peace in the area.
Addressing community leaders in Zango Urban, the commander assured that the Army would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone found to have taken the law into their hand in the name of carrying out revenge attacks.
According to him, “The Army is more than prepared to decisively deal with trouble makers from both the Atyap, Hausa and Fulani communities.”
He explained that the time was now over for those fomenting trouble in the area, assuring that he would no longer pamper and beg people who were bent on their evil actions.
Brig-Gen Opurum promised those planning to carry out attacks in the area that they would meet their waterloo if they failed to heed the warning.
The Atyap villages had recently witnessed renewed attacks leading to the loss of many lives and destruction of property worth millions of naira
