Former House of Representatives member plans grassroots mobilisation across 21 LGAs, 326 wards and 5,720 polling units.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, to coordinate Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential campaign in Anambra State.
Ibezi, a former ally of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, recently joined the NDC after previously supporting Soludo’s All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
In a statement made available to journalists, Ibezi announced plans to launch a grassroots mobilisation drive across Anambra to build support for Obi and other NDC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said Anambra, being Obi’s home state, had a significant role to play in securing a strong electoral mandate for the party’s presidential candidate.
According to him, the campaign would focus not only on winning votes but also on encouraging greater participation in the electoral process.
Ibezi said the mobilisation effort would target undecided voters, residents who feel neglected by the political system and citizens who have lost confidence in elections.
He stressed the need to engage these groups, listen to their concerns and restore their confidence in the power of their votes.
The former lawmaker disclosed that the campaign would cover all 21 local government areas, 326 wards and 5,720 polling units across Anambra State.
The outreach would also extend to markets, churches, town union meetings and households as part of efforts to reach voters at the grassroots.
Ibezi added that the campaign would work towards ensuring that every valid vote counts and that the electoral process reflects the will of the electorate.
The appointment comes amid growing political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
