Public affairs commentator and legal practitioner, Barr. Ayebakuro Igbeta, PhD, has congratulated Governor Douye Diri on his administration’s sixth anniversary, praising what he described as unprecedented developmental strides across Bayelsa State.
In a press statement dated February 13, 2026, Igbeta lauded the governor and the Prosperity Government team for what he called purposeful leadership and strategic governance since assuming office six years ago. He said the milestone reflects sustained commitment to the vision of the state’s founding fathers.
Igbeta, a former Legal Adviser of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, said the Diri administration has remained consistent in implementing policies aligned with the original master plan of Bayelsa State. According to him, the state’s development blueprint is now firmly on course due to deliberate planning and structured execution.
He particularly commended the government’s efforts toward the completion of the three major senatorial roads designed to connect all parts of the state to Yenagoa, the state capital. He described the road projects as critical infrastructure capable of transforming economic activities and improving access across communities.
According to Igbeta, the push to link the three senatorial districts by road represents a significant step toward fulfilling long-standing aspirations of the state’s founding leaders. He said the projects demonstrate a clear understanding of Bayelsa’s unique terrain and developmental challenges.
The legal practitioner noted that infrastructural renewal under the current administration has gone beyond road construction. He said the government has also strengthened institutions and invested in human capital development to improve governance outcomes.
Igbeta stated that several key projects executed over the past six years have enhanced connectivity within the state. He added that improved infrastructure has stimulated local economies and positively impacted the standard of living of residents.
He further observed that the Prosperity Government has distinguished itself through adherence to structured planning. According to him, this approach has ensured that projects are aligned with the long-term interests of the state rather than short-term political considerations.
Beyond infrastructure, Igbeta commended the administration for promoting unity among diverse political and socio-cultural groups in Bayelsa. He said the government has fostered inclusiveness and collective ownership of governance across various segments of the state.
He maintained that bridging political divides has contributed to a more stable governing environment. According to him, sustained engagement with stakeholders has reduced tensions and encouraged broader participation in state affairs.
Igbeta, who also serves as Chief Scribe of the Bayelsa State Centre for Youths Development, highlighted improvements in peace and security. He said the state is experiencing a level of stability that many residents had not witnessed prior to the current administration.
He attributed the improved security situation to proactive engagement and effective coordination with security agencies. He also pointed to sustained dialogue with community leaders and other stakeholders as a factor in maintaining calm across the state.
The public affairs commentator said the relative peace has created an enabling environment for development initiatives to thrive. He noted that stability remains essential for the consolidation of gains recorded over the past six years.
As the administration marks its sixth anniversary, Igbeta offered prayers for continued wisdom, strength, and guidance for Governor Diri and his team. He expressed optimism that the remaining period of the tenure would consolidate existing achievements.
He said the government has laid a solid foundation for enduring growth and stability in Bayelsa State. According to him, the trajectory of development suggests that the original aspirations of the state’s founding fathers are being realized.
Igbeta also assured the administration of continued support from Bayelsans. He urged residents to remain united and cooperative to enable the government complete its consolidation efforts.
He emphasized that sustained collaboration between government and citizens would be critical to finishing strong. According to him, collective commitment will ensure that the state leaves behind a legacy of structured growth and long-term stability.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of confidence in the Prosperity Government’s direction. Igbeta said the sixth anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on progress made and to strengthen resolve for continued development in Bayelsa State.
