Police authorities in Adamawa State have arrested a suspect accused of trafficking illegal drugs, including Indian hemp and tramadol, across the border into Cameroon. The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb cross-border drug smuggling and related criminal activities in the region.
According to police officials, the suspect was apprehended during an operation targeting illicit drug distribution networks operating within border communities. Officers reportedly acted on intelligence indicating that the individual was involved in moving controlled substances from Nigeria into neighboring Cameroon.
The police said items recovered from the suspect included quantities of Indian hemp, a cannabis product that remains illegal under Nigerian law, as well as tramadol, a prescription medication often abused for its psychoactive effects. Authorities believe the substances were intended for illegal sale outside the country.
