President Bola Tinubu says he will contest for a second term, stressing that increasing security problems in some parts of Nigeria will not push him out of office.

He made the comment while hosting Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and other leaders from Plateau State.

Tinubu stated that individuals using the nation’s security situation to target his government were playing into the plans of his political rivals and enemies.

“You are playing to the hand of agents, including my own enemies, who want to use insecurity to get rid of me,” Tinubu said.

The President noted that he remains firm despite growing criticism over security issues, calling himself a dogged politician.

“I’m a very stubborn politician. I just refuse to go. And I will campaign for my second term,” he said.

His statement comes amid fresh worries about attacks by gunmen, abductions, and killings in various regions, with opposition figures and civil society organizations urging the Federal Government to act more decisively.

The President has continued to defend his government’s approach, saying security agencies are receiving support to address threats and restore peace across the country.
