The Governor of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Europe Chapter, Collins Idosah, has announced the immediate dissolution of the chapter’s executive council, citing the expiration of the tenure of its appointed members.
Idosah said the decision was taken in line with the administrative and constitutional framework guiding the operations of the Europe Chapter, stressing that the affected officials were appointed and had completed their tenure.
“The tenure of the Europe Executive has expired. Therefore, I have dissolved the executive with immediate effect in accordance with my responsibilities as Governor of the chapter,” he stated.
The NYCN Europe Governor also reaffirmed the legal status of the Europe Chapter, insisting that the body remains duly registered and recognised within the countries where it operates across Europe.
He warned that any individual or group seeking to create confusion, undermine the chapter’s authority or establish parallel structures should be prepared to face the legal consequences of such actions.
Idosah further clarified that the dissolution affects only the Europe Executive and does not extend to other NYCN diaspora structures.
“All other diaspora executives remain intact and unaffected. This decision concerns only the Europe Executive whose tenure has expired,” he said.
Meanwhile, the legitimacy of Idosah’s leadership has again been reinforced by a notice issued by Barrister Suleiman Abubakar, Chairman of the Electoral Committee that conducted the NYCN Bayelsa Congress in 2025.
According to the notice, Collins Idosah was duly elected as Governor of the NYCN Europe Chapter during the National Youth Council of Nigeria Congress held in Bayelsa State.
Barrister Abubakar, a former National Legal Adviser and former General Secretary of NYCN, stated that no individual or group has the authority to remove the Europe Governor from office or any official platform without following due process.
“Collins Idosah was duly elected as Governor, Europe Chapter, at the National Youth Council of Nigeria Congress held in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. No person or group should remove him from any platform without due process,” the notice stated.
The development comes amid ongoing leadership debates within some diaspora circles, with stakeholders closely watching the next steps in the reorganisation of the Europe Chapter following the dissolution of the executive council.
