Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has reacted to the massive mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the Osun State governorship election, expressing confidence that the party will suffer another defeat at the polls.
The singer made the remark as the APC intensified its campaign activities in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, with the arrival of several prominent leaders of the ruling party ahead of the election.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and more than 10 APC governors converged on Osogbo as part of the party’s final campaign efforts.
Among the governors who arrived in the state were Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, welcomed the APC delegation in a post shared on his official social media platform, highlighting the presence of the party’s national leadership and governors.
Davido, whose uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election, reshared Oyetola’s post and used the opportunity to mock the APC’s political mobilisation.
Reacting to the large gathering of APC leaders and governors, the singer wrote:
«“If you like gather Jesus 12 disciples, you will lose for the 3rd time.”»
Davido’s comment has since generated reactions among supporters of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and APC, with the singer openly backing his uncle’s bid for another term as governor of Osun State.
The Osun governorship election is expected to be closely contested, with both major political parties making strong efforts to secure victory across the state.
As the campaigns enter their final stages, the massive turnout of APC leaders in Osogbo underscores the importance the ruling party attaches to the contest, while Davido’s statement reflects the confidence within Governor Adeleke’s camp ahead of the poll.
