EKITI STATE — Governor Biodun Oyebanji has been sworn in for a second term as Governor of Ekiti State, becoming the first governor in the state’s history to secure consecutive terms in office.

Oyebanji took the oaths of office and allegiance on Friday, October 16, 2026, alongside his deputy, Chief Monisade Afuye, at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, formalising their return to office for another four-year tenure.

The historic inauguration was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; former Ekiti governors; serving governors; traditional rulers; and other political leaders and dignitaries.

Oyebanji’s second-term inauguration marks a significant milestone in Ekiti State’s political history, ending the pattern in which previous governors had not secured consecutive terms.
