The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has officially distanced itself from a circulating notice purportedly announcing the conduct of local government primaries in the state, describing the document as unauthorized, misleading, and of no legal standing within the party structure.
In a clarification issued by the state chapter of the party, the APC leadership stressed that no approval was granted for any timetable or arrangement relating to local government primaries, warning party members and the general public to disregard the information in its entirety.
According to the party, the notice did not emanate from any recognised organ of the APC at either the state or national level, and therefore lacks the legitimacy required to guide any internal electoral process.
The leadership further cautioned against what it described as attempts by mischief makers to create confusion within the party, especially at a time when internal cohesion and proper coordination are crucial ahead of future electoral activities.
It reiterated that all official communications regarding party primaries, congresses, or other political activities must come through approved and verifiable channels, including the National Working Committee (NWC) or duly constituted state executive structures.
Party stakeholders and members were urged to remain vigilant and rely only on authenticated announcements to avoid being misled or drawn into processes that do not have the backing of the party’s leadership.
The APC reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and due process, assuring members that any future electoral timetable would be duly communicated in line with established party guidelines and procedures.
